Sadly, Thanksgiving was basically cancelled. Three of the four people living in the house, including me, are sick. I've spent the last four days in bed. Now I am resting up with a cup of tea and trying a bit of lavendar in it. My garden needs some work so hopefully I will feel better this weekend.

comments

My brother came to help me with some rotted boards on my deck. On top of that, we fixed my fence gate latch, a broken board on my fence, and redid the ramp of my shed. He arrived at my place around 9:30 in the morning and we got all that work, including a trip to the hardware store to actually buy all the materials, done by 6pm. My boys got to spend time with their uncle, and learned how to use a drill. My older son got to use the saw too. It's a struggle for me to ask for help, especially from my family, so it meant a lot to me that my brother came through for me.

comments

This blog was a live journal, created over twenty years ago. Migrated over to this site back when the biggest threat from Russia was that they were pushing against lgbtq rights. I think I've made one post on this website before. In those twenty years since I created that lj, I've earned two bachelor degrees, moved cities, started a career and am about two thirds of the way through it, and had two kids. I am not the same person, but I am who grew out of that person.

Today I'm home sick from work, listening to a true crime "podcast" on Netflix. I put that in quotes because I don't really think that it counts as a podcast if you can see the person on camera as opposed to just listening to them. I am trying to rest and waiting to start craving Korean food, since for some reason that is my weird craving every time I start recover from a stomach bug or cold. Specifically japchae. My older son is also home sick. He's in his room playing on his computer.

I want to sleep but if I do then I won't be able to sleep tonight. I don't want to take another day off work tomorrow, too much to do.

I'm too sick to think of more to say right now. But I am going to try to remember this blog exists. Maybe if I exercise my writing muscle a little here, it will start sounding better.

comments
